Hitting long irons is paramont to advancing a golfer's game. Too many golfers ignore their irons and concentrate too much on their Driver. WHY???? It's all about marketing!!!! Club manufacturers can demand top dollar for a Driver because they have most golfers beliving that they can BUY more DISTANCE and ACCURACY. So the average golfer can't wait to use/practice his/her driver at the expense of the irons. CAN'T HIT A LONG IRON!!!! manufacturers have an answer: BUY a HYBRID!!!

Jack The Bear told once in a magazine, that long irons are your friends. You must think that there is 7 stamped to the sole and hit them the same way - downwards. I've managed to get that feeling and hit my 3i past the 200 meter mark on a good day from fairway.

It's not about the distance, but the effort they feel to put on, when they strike the ball. Most of us amateurs and club hackers tend to hit 110% and the effects of the flaws we have multiply the problems in the ball flight and accuracy. By reducing the effort to say 50-60% the odds would be, that we'd get more solid and pure contact and gain some yardage at the same time!
